Septic Do's and Dont's

Septic Do's and Dont's

A failed Septic System can endanger your family’s health, harm the environment, will reduce your property value and can become costly to repair. Look out for the early warning signs. If you think your system may not be working properly, check around the lawn for wet spots or listen for gurgling sounds in your drains or when flushing. Foul odor can also be an early warning sign that your septic needs pumping. Without regular septic pumping and cleaning, your septic system may begin to fail especially if you fall into the “don’t“ category below.

  • Use septic safe toilet paper
  • Maintain records of pumping and maintenance visits.
  • Avoid multiple loads of laundry if possible
  • Minimize long showers
  • Water saving shower heads and toilets
Dont's
